Traffic trends to date

In many places in Europe, road traffic over the past few years has grown more than previously expected. This is true of the German and Danish motorways, as well as the Rødby–Puttgarden ferry connection.

In the period from 2008-2009 the traffic sector also marked a decrease, but in the longer run it is being expected that the traffic continues to increase.

In the period from 1970 to 2008, car traffic on the Rødby–Puttgarden ferry connection increased by an average of 3.9 percent per year.

The estimate for the Fehmarnbelt made in 2002 was already overtaken by actual traffic trends within five years.
