The website contains descriptions and results from the extensive environmental investigations currently being undertaken in and around the Fehmarnbelt waterway between Denmark and Germany in preparation for the fixed link across the Fehmarnbelt.
”The investigations, which have been underway for almost a year, are producing large amounts of data and we can now begin to explain some of the many findings relating to water flow, birds, marine mammals, fish and other areas,” explains Environment Manager Anders Jensen, Femern A/S.
The website will contain general information about the areas that form the Environmental Impact Assessment that has to be carried out as part of the approval process. Moreover, a number of scientific and technical articles and reports will be posted on the site, as will live data from some of the measuring stations that transmit data from the Fehmarnbelt.
Between 2008 and 2011, Femern A/S is conducting a comprehensive survey within seven areas: hydrography, marine biology, birds, fish and fishing, marine mammals as well as land-based environmental investigations at the approach and ramp areas.
The new environmental website can be accessed at www.femernenvironment.com.
