These are just some of the diverse environmental data that have been collected during the planning of the Fehmarnbelt fixed link project.
Between 2008 and 2010, more than 100 environmental specialists carried out field investigations within seven main areas: hydrography, marine biology, fish, birds, marine mammals, archeology and the land environment.
Production on Lolland also to be investigated
In 2011, further investigations of the environmental consequences of establishing production facilities for the tunnel elements at Rødbyhavn were carried out.
Data from the very extensive environmental investigations in and around the Fehmarnbelt will form part of the environmental reports prepared by Femern A/S’ environment consultants.
Report on environmental impacts
These environmental reports will form the backbone of the general Environmental Impact Assessment from Femern A/S, i.e. the assessment of the project’s impact on the environment.
In Denmark, the statement will provide the basis for the authorities’ EIA consultation. In Germany, the report on environmental factors is part of the overall application for official approval of the project.
Videos about the environment
Video recordings of the fieldwork were made during many of the environmental investigations. Some of the recordings have been used to produce eight small videos about the environmental work in and around Fehmarnbelt over the past two years.
