Project

Approvals

A planned project as large as the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link requires the participation of a variety of government agencies.

All approvals must comply with the national law of Denmark and Germany, and relevant EU directives must be followed. In addition to government agencies, the public of both nations are also involved in the project, for example in hearings pertaining to environmental aspects.

Due to possible international environmental effects and the influence of the link on shipping traffic, in certain cases, international law may also apply.

Does the EU support the project?

The EU has already granted around Euro 339 million to cover the period from 2007 until 2013. Futher grants are expected for the construction period.
