Project

Denmark

In Denmark, railway and motorway construction projects are traditionally approved by a law passed in the Parliament, the Folketing.

The Danish Parliament passed a planning law in March 2009, adopting the state treaty between the Ministers of Transport of the two nations. The planning law simultaneously forms the legal basis for the financing of and preparation for the project, including the environmental impact study (EIA).

Only when the environmental impact study and other preliminary studies have been completed, will the detailed layout and planning for the construction project be undertaken. This will form the basis for development of a construction law, which must then be passed by the Folketing before construction can begin.

Bridge or tunnel?

The bridge and the tunnel solutions are being studied equally. The Danish parliament is expected to take a final decision in a form of an Act of Parliament in 2012.
