These production sites can be located at some distance from the alignment and do not need to be on the islands of Fehmarn or Lolland. After completion, the tunnel elements will be towed to site to be immersed in a pre-dredged trench. After immersion, the trench will be backfilled.

The structural works will be completed by a number of mechanical and electrical installations, traffic control and monitoring systems. Combined with the finishing of the tunnel, they will make the tunnel an intelligently operated, safe and reliable infrastructural asset.

Portal buildings will be constructed onshore at each end of the tunnel. The construction sites for this will have to be placed next to the ramp areas.
