An excavated construction pit down to a level of about -13.00 metres at the deepest point is needed to construct the portal and ramps. These will be realized partly in an open excavation and partly within sheet pile walls.

The required size of the area is about 150.000 m² and shall allow for easy access to the works itself and easy delivery of materials and equipment by road or sea. A temporary harbour facility is needed for supply of materials and equipment over sea. It is expected that concrete production will be taken care of onsite which requires space for a concrete batching plant and storage of materials.

The construction site quantities of the portal buildings and ramps are estimated to be as follows:

• Water: 300 m³/day with a peak of 40 m³/hour (for concrete production and for personnel on site)
• Sewage: There will be an average of 15 - 20 m³/day of sewage water.
• Electricity: Estimated to 1 MVA maximum capacity including temporary dewatering pumps
• Traffic of trucks: In the early phase, before completion of the temporary harbour, land transport will be needed. This is estimated to 100 trucks per day and side, for 2 months.
• Noise: It is assumed that the requirements regarding noise for heavy industry are complied with.
• Dust: It is assumed that the main transportation routes will be asphalted to prevent dust during transportation. Further any dust from dirt roads will be reduced during the summer time by frequent water spraying.
