Project

Multiple production sites

The onshore production sites for the pier caissons and pier shafts will probably be located up to 80 km from the bridge site. The water depth at the harbours for loading must be a minimum of 6 m.

As the bridge will be divided into the north approach bridge, the south approach bridge and the high bridge, three contractors will probably be assigned, each with up to three different production site locations. Access to the sites for delivering production materials must be available from land as well as from sea. Most of the construction material is expected to be delivered by boats.

All production sites will be organised to meet all local environmental requirements regarding noise, dust and vibration. It is likely that work will occasionally be carried out around the clock.

The required size of the areas is shown on the attached principle plans. The sites must allow for easy access of materials for the production (aggregates for concrete production, formwork, reinforcement, staff and equipment for the production).

A service harbour for the transportation of personnel and a harbour for load-out of materials and equipment to be used offshore must be located within 20 km of the bridge site at a location with water depths of 4 m and 6 m respectively.

The construction sequence for the onshore production of pier caissons and pier shafts is similar. A number of locations for the construction of the structural elements will be provided along a common transportation line to the load-out jetty for transportation to the bridge site by a specialised heavy lifting vessel. Each element will be cast at this location and all reinforcement, formwork and casting will be finished on land prior to load-out of the elements.
