The immersion of the elements will take place from both the Lolland and the Fehmarn side. This will create the option of having two element production contracts instead of one and, therefore, two construction sites for the element production.

A minimum of four production and construction sites are envisaged for the tunnel:

• one construction site for the portal and ramp structures on Lolland
• one construction site on Fehmarn for the ramp and portal structures
• two or three sites for the production of the tunnel elements

The latter can, in principle, be located anywhere in the Scandinavian or the North European region as long as there is access to the elements from the sea. These will have a draft of around 10 m. Far distant locations are a drawback since they have cost implications and involve non-operational time owing to weather conditions.
