Project

Danish landworks

In Denmark, the connections to the rail and road network will be improved prior to the opening of the coast-to-coast segment.

The following has been agreed upon in the state treaty:

        •  Electrification of the Ringsted–Rødbyhavn rail segment.

        •  Expansion of the rail stretches from Vordingborg to the Masnedø
and from Orehoved to Rødbyhavn to two tracks. The rail connection
across the Storstrøm will remain a single-track connection.

        •  Additional necessary expansion and the required environmental
optimisation of the existing E 47 motorway between Rødbyhavn
            and Sakskøbing.

The expansion of the E 47 between Rødbyhavn and Sakskøbing to a four-lane motorway was already completed at the end of 2007.

The construction costs for the hinterland infrastructure on the Danish side are estimated at a total of 8-9 billion DKK (cost as of 2008), including reserves on 50 percent. This project cost estimate was created before the environmental impact study was carried out.

Consultation process

Public consultation for hinterland infrastructure construction in Denmark started on 15 September 2009. The public can address any objections to the Trafikstyrelsen (Danish Public Transport Authority) by post, email or telephone until 1 November 2009. After this ‘proposal phase’, all objections will be published in a hearing report.

Detailed information on the planned construction work can be found here:
