Blog on regional development in the Fehmarnbelt region

Date: 05.07.2011
Call for high-speed trains and tourists as spearhead of regionalization

Many regional actors – from the German and Danish side alike – have already announced their participation in Femern A/S’ blog on regional development in the Fehmarnbelt region. This includes National and European Parliament Members, mayors, business representatives and academics. Jacob Vestergaard, Director Market Development at Femern A/S, posted the first blog entry about tourism in the region. Today, another entry was posted by Professor Christian Wichmann Matthiessen, University of Copenhagen. He argues that Denmark should be linked to the European high-speed rail network.

How can local companies benefit from the fixed link during the construction phase? What are the long-term advantages and possible disadvantages and how can one be prepared to face them? Those and other questions about regional development perspectives are at the core of the new blog made available by Femern A/S. Femern A/S provides the platform and offers actors in the region the opportunity to discuss and publicize their views and opinions about regional development in the Fehmarnbelt region.

You can read the blog entries and become a part of the discussion at www.blog.femern.com.
