Transport ministers fully support the fixed link

Date: 15.02.2012
Danish transport Minister Henrik Dam Kristensen and his German counterpart, Federal Minister for transport, building and urban development Peter Ramsauer, met yesterday in Berlin.

At the bilateral meeting, the two ministers addressed the main transport policy issues of the current Danish EU presidency. They specifically focused on the revision of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) guidelines, on the basis of which targeted investments in cross-border infrastructure projects should improve intra-European connectivity and remove bottlenecks.

In this context Dam Kristensen and Ramsauer explicitly underlined the importance of the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link and expressed their full support for the planned tunnel. Establishing a first-class railway corridor between Germany and Scandinavia contributes to an ecologically beneficial improvement of both the railway and road traffic with positive effects on growth and employment.
