In addition to the proposed road and rail alignments for the coast-to-coast link, the project also includes proposals for new local roads in the vicinity of Rødbyhavn and Puttgarden.
The announcement of the chosen corridor means that property owners outside the corridor will now know that their properties will not be affected by the future alignment. However, it should be noted that construction works may take place outside the corridor.
Femern A/S will inform all property owners within the planned corridor about the decision and invite them to participate in an ongoing dialogue about the proposals for the alignment itself as well as for the new local roads. In Denmark, there are approx. 50 property owners within the corridor, while in Germany the figure is around 20. The number of owners affected by the final alignment is expected to be somewhat less.
Concerning the alignment for the road section, an operational and control centre as well as a toll station, including an area for customs and police, will be established on the Danish side. A corresponding area for police and customs authorities will be located on the German side. The siting of these facilities is included in the submitted alignment proposal.
It should be noted that the proposals for the alignment and new local roads are preliminary only. Changes may be introduced both prior to and during the EIA consultations in 2012.
Femern A/S invites local residents, authorities and other stakeholders to present their views for inclusion in the forthcoming EIA.
Once Femern A/S presents the EIA report for the coast-to-coast project, further meetings will be organised for property owners in the area as well as residents on Lolland and Fehmarn.
