Femern A/S supports regional integration

When the Fehmarnbelt tunnel opens in 2021, one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe will bring people, business and culture in the Fehmarnbelt Region closer together. As with any major infrastructure project, this will result in new opportunities, but there will also be challenges for the people and the surrounding environment.

It is therefore in the interests of all concerned – including Femern A/S – to target the prevention or minimisation of any potentially negative effects from the link. At the same time, it is important to identify and realise the opportunities, which the project entails for the region's economic development at an early stage.

This is because the structure itself should not and will not be the centre of attention on a day-to-day basis; instead it should be the people who use it and benefit from it. This is why Femern A/S is already cooperating with numerous stakeholders to support sustainable development in the region.
